Floodlight

From OpenArena

Floodlighting is a cheap way to add diffuse lighting in maps without having to wait hours to compile lightbounces or make maps look terrible with flat, physically incorrect, ambient lighting.

In worldspawn add a new key called _floodlight. The values are, in the order that they are typed:

-RGB color values, in the standard 0 - 255 scale. Not in the known light's colors 0 - 1 scale.

-Distance to trace. For a middle value start with 1024. Lower values make the floodlight "flood" the whole map with a more uniform light brightness, making it look more like ambientlight. Higher values make the floodlight more uneven, brighter areas become brighter while dark areas become darker.

-Intensity. The floodlight's intensity.

ote that floodlight "floods" the whole map, there is no control over per area flooding.

It doesn't quite replace skylight shaders, but can help brightening up shadows.
